Cosmetic Brow Lifts: What Are They?

Neuromodulators such as Botox can be used to create a more rested and refreshed appearance, thanks to its ability to slightly modify the eyebrow position. In some cases eyebrow asymmetries can also be corrected using the techniques described below. I am a Naturopath Doctor in Kamloops, and I'm trained in these techniques.

The procerus and corrugator muscles are under what is known as the glabella, which is the part of the forehead between the eyebrows. When these muscles are active, they pull the eyebrows downward and inward. Make an angry face and you will notice the action of these muscles. You might also notice dynamic wrinkles created between the eyebrows which are called the "11 lines." 11 lines are perfect lines to treat with neuromodulators because they are caused by muscle contractions rather than volume loss. By modifying the action of those muscles the dynamic 11 lines are treated and the eyebrows stay in a rested position.

Another technique to give a lifted and arched look to the brows is to place units of neuromodulator just outside the brow near the temple. This technique relaxes specific parts of the orbicularis oculi muscle that pull the arch of the brow downwards. When treated, this muscle relaxes, letting the arch of the brow float upwards slightly. This results in a feminine arch to the brow, which many people find to create a more refreshed appearance.

The results are often very subtle. I will discuss with you what results you are wanting as well as make recommendations. Each appointment with your injector, whether for a touch up or for re-treatment, is an opportunity to optimize your treatment. Neuromodulator treatment is not permanent and will wear off in 3-4 months. There is no down time for the procedure and aside from avoiding heavy exercise, saunas, and pressure on the area for a few hours after, you can continue your regular lifestyle before and after treatment.
